ORLANDO, Fla. (December 21, 2016) – Global-5 CEO and former WCPX (now WKMG) TV news anchor Mary Hamill was recently named one of PR News’ Top Women in PR for 2017. The designation is awarded nationally to “celebrate communicators who have made bold advances in managing crises, developing brand messages and protecting and building brand reputations for their organizations or clients.”

Mary founded Global-5 Communications, the nation’s premier transportation communications firm, in 1996. Under Mary’s direction, Global-5 leads the marketing and public relations efforts for the I-4 Ultimate Improvement Project, the Florida 511 Traveler Information System, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment Program and other projects. The company celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016.

Mary graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism and film, and later studied at the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business in Orlando, Florida. In her first career, Mary worked as an anchor and reporter for TV stations in Columbia, Missouri; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; Washington, D.C.; and finally in Orlando as an anchor for Channel 6 (WKMG) from 1985 to 1995.
