Orlando, Fla., March 15, 2013 – Global-5 Communications recently concluded a weeklong, small-market media tour on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) promoting how the 511 Traveler Information System can help keep travelers safe during Spring Break road trips. Global-5’s Christie Hyde traveled to Gainesville, Tallahassee and Panama City and conducted nine live and taped television and radio interviews.

As millions of families and students pack up for Spring Break road trips, the FDOT wants everyone to stay safe on the roads. During her interviews, Hyde reminded travelers to use its 511 Traveler Information System to get up-to-date traffic reports before hitting the road. She also shared safety tips such as leaving ample time to reach the destination to avoid feeling rushed, planning stops along the route to switch drivers and avoid drowsy driving and never drinking and driving.
