ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 10, 2014) — Surpassing the largest number of nationwide submissions ever received, Global-5 Communications’ statewide marketing campaign for the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) 511 Traveler Information System received the Best of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Award for Best New Innovative Practice in Outreach. Winners were announced on Sept. 9, 2014, at the international ITS World Congress in Detroit.

“We worked hard to develop an innovative approach to educate the public about 511,” said Mary Hamill, president and CEO of Global-5. “By looking outside of the box, we were able to generate more than 1 billion impressions and increase 511 usage to more than 3.3 million requests in 2013. We’re honored to be recognized for our work and we are excited to use these tactics with other current and future clients.”

More than 10,000 of the world’s leading public officials, transportation innovators, business leaders, investors, researcher professionals and entrepreneurs attended the event at this year’s World Congress. The Best of ITS Awards honors the most innovative, effective and influential achievements in the ITS industry. Global-5 has been providing results-driven marketing services for FDOT’s 511 resource for more than seven years.
