Transportation communications took center stage during the recent Transportation and Expressway Authority Membership of Florida (TEAMFlorida) quarterly meeting, where Global-5 President and CEO Mary Hamill, APR, delivered the closing luncheon presentation. Her session focused on how strategic communications training, digital storytelling, and crisis communications planning can help transportation agencies strengthen public trust and support successful project delivery.
Attendees explored how consistent messaging and proactive communications strategies support transportation projects throughout every phase — from planning and public outreach to construction milestones and crisis response.

Mary Hamill, APR, addressed members of TEAMFlorida at the organization’s May gathering in sunny Bonita Springs, Florida. She coached leaders from Florida’s toll, expressway, bridge, and transit agencies about the communications strategies that contribute to a successful transportation project.
Today’s Search Starts with Social
- YouTube is widely considered the world’s second-largest search engine
- 57% of people use YouTube to search for information the same way they use Google
- 82% of consumers use social media to research products, services, or answers to questions
- 46% of Gen Z users prefer searching on TikTok or Instagram over traditional search engines
The presentation further highlighted how visual storytelling, infographics, videos, behind-the-scenes access, and social media content can help agencies improve public understanding of complex infrastructure projects while increasing community engagement.

By giving media outlets behind-the-scenes access, THEA CV Pilot project leaders transformed a complex transportation technology initiative into a compelling national story — demonstrating how transparency and visual storytelling can dramatically expand awareness.
